Facing organizational silos or resistance to change? Stakeholders pulling in different directions? Can't align, get real buy-in or jumpstart implementation?

The problem is traditional planning no longer guarantees success. Rapid change, uncertainty, new technologies and a flatter world call for a new approach.

The award-winning Strategy-In-Action shows how companies ended the long-standing divorce between planners and implementers. One saved $200m from people power, another made €74m from innovation.

Zweifel, strategy and performance expert and award-winning author, and Borey, CEO and turnaround guru, use their experience at Fortune 500 companies, SMEs, UN/government agencies, and the military to offer a turn-key methodology that yields quick wins and stands the test of time.

CEOs, senior managers, and strategists will find a systematic seven-step roadmap, including

  • How to move from silos to alignment among multiple stakeholders.
  • How to catalyze path-breaking action, then have the action inform the strategy.
  • How to foster a leadership mindset and get your team obsessed with winning.

"I wish I'd had your tools 35 years ago when I was starting out." (Werner Brandmayr, President and Managing Director, ConocoPhillips Holding Europe)

"We have results that were virtually impossible before Strategy-In-Action." (Lawrence Obstfeld, CEO, Image Navigation)

"The only strategy book that integrates strategy alignment, highly pragmatic execution and performance, and the human element in one seamless process." (Dr. Frank Waltmann, Head of Learning, Novartis)

"A new logical, efficient and common-sense approach. A must read for anyone involved with strategic planning in the 21st century." (Dr. Martin Cross, Chairman, Medicines Australia)

Clients pay the authors $26,000+ on average because these tools yield 10x ROI, and frankly outperform any others on the market. Get Strategy-In-Action now and build alignment on a winning strategy that marries planning, people, and performance.

I wanted to ask for a refund for this book but I figured If I did I would not have the opportunity to give it a bad review. So I am essentially paying 5 euros (kindle price) for the opportunity to give this review. The book is chock full of elevator pitch stories about companies who "made it" while giving the shallowest details of how. The thesis of the book is the classic "7 things you have to do" but they are extremely disappointing. Here they are:
1: Shared understanding 2: Strategic intent 3: Dashboard of key indicators 4: Thrust (!!!) 5: Leadership (Really!) 6: Catalytic actions (Wasn't that Thrust?) 7. Sustain the momentum. Here is the summary of step 5 from the book: "Step Five: Leadership . Leaders can be at all levels of the organization. There are four types: those who lead the strategic process itself, typically Board members and C-level executives; implementers; other affected stakeholders; and gatekeepers who might throw a wrench into the process unless they are aligned. They are capable of leading by example; unyielding about the goal but flexible about the means; highly curious and tolerant of uncertainty; and respectful of divergent viewpoints". I am sorry but there is so little information in that extract and so much fluff... that I can't even trust what information there was. So... why are so many people giving this book a solid 5 stars with very little rationale? Why indeed.

StrategyinAction Marrying Planning People and Performance (Audible Audio Edition) Thomas D Zweifel Edward J Borey Shlomo Zacks Zacks Audiobooks Production Books Reviews

“I have personally experienced the power of the Strategy-In-Action methodology. We developed a shared understanding around objectives as well as an enhanced perception of obstacles and breakdowns. Strategy-in- Action provides insight into how to recognize and identify traps (such as the illusion of hope and the attachment to old solutions) as well as a formula for vision and action We identified immediate action steps that optimized our deployment and designed energizing 100-day ‘Catalytic Projects’. The adrenalin is pumping again, and we have results that were virtually impossible before Strategy-In-Action. Dr Zweifel’s book challenges complacency and charts the path forward.
Lawrence Obstfeld, CEO

Not compelling at all...
Collage of quotes and shallow stories with a twist of so called action points... Could not care to finish... Definite waste of money and time...
This handy book by Thomas Zweifel and Ed Borey is a true treasure. Whenever I plan a project, prepare for a workshop, or review our organizational strategy, I open the book and invariable find inspiration to challenge my assumptions, ask deeper questions, and find myself more prepared for finding better options. This book is fresh, results oriented, rich in examples. It has been an invaluable resource on my desk since the day I got it - just with ever more ear-marks, and the progressive wear and tear of a book in constant use.
It is Okay
The book builds on the respected scholarly books on strategy of the past. Then adds a dynamic methodology to integrate coherent actions for the present that ties to the future.
Great book! Clear, results-driven, and all about listening and getting out of people's way. It's about doing things more and managing less, but with clear steps for doing it right. Highly recommended.
The best book about strategy I ever read. It closes the gap between powerful visions and people actions through a framework that I never experienced before. Each of the 7 steps of Strategy-In-Action is provided through a powerful context build upon real business case, step by step exercise or workshops to enable you to start with your own team from day 1. It also covers all pitfalls that are waiting for you along the way, with easy and understandable solutions to override them.

A must have in my bookshelf!
